Preparing for Your In-Home

Preparing your home for a lifestyle photography session can help ensure that the photos capture the warmth and personality of your living space. Here are some tips to help you get ready for yours:

Newborn Lifestyle Photo Session

Declutter & Tidy

Remove any items from the spaces we will be photographing in. Clutter can be distracting and take away from the main subjects of the session - you! By all means I’m not saying you need to hire a cleaning service, but tidying up the kids toys or throwing the clothes in a hamper is plenty enough!

Coordinate Colors

If possible, consider the color scheme of your home and coordinate outfits and accessories accordingly. Outfits should complement each other and the overall aesthetic of your home. Visit my styling guide here and family wardrobe links here for help.

Personal Touches

Add personal touches to your wardrobe and home that reflect your lifestyle and personality. This could include family photos, artwork, family heirlooms, or other items that are meaningful to you. If you spent hours preparing your baby’s nursery, let’s be sure to get some photographs showcasing your hard work!

Once I arrive:

I will be assessing the best locations in your home that have optimal lighting and neutral backgrounds. This helps focus the attention on you and your family. If needed, I’ll open the curtains and blinds to let in as much natural light as possible. Natural light tends to provide a softer and more flattering look in photos.

Remember that the goal of your session is to capture authentic moments with you and your newborn, so try to relax and enjoy the process. Creating a comfortable environment for you and your family will contribute to the overall success of the session.
